How To Wear: Two-Strap Sandals

Okay, let's discuss this season's shoe epidemic: two-strap, heeled sandals. As far as trends go, this one's worth a try. Unlike past seasons' chunky heels, these minimalist sandals have a slimming effect, elongating the leg.

But how to wear? The verdict on the streets: wear with skinny jeans, mini skirts, boyfriend jeans, or flowy shorts. Balance your look with a fitted top for minis and boyfriend jeans or a loose blouse for skinnies and shorts.

The End of an Era

Okay, that title's a tad dramatic. And maybe just a little self-centered. But I'm a (former) college student, I'm allowed to mourn my graduation, right?

In the midst of job applications and apartment hunting, I split my time between pitying myself and feeling nostalgic. Ahh, to be young again. Who knew that being a grown-up could be so, well, boring?

So what better way to distract myself from the endless onslaught of employment rejections than daydreaming of another time? A time seventy years before my birth...the roaring 20's.

Enter: Karlie Kloss, the dog from "The Artist," and some male model (fine, his name's Clément Chabernaud). The three starred in Americana Manhasset's fall catalog, with fringe frocks and head-pieces galore.

H&M's Spring Lookbook makes me even more excited for the end of cold weather. How perfect is that white leather vest? And the blue, lace dress is surprisingly fresh given the robin's egg color and somewhat dated texture.

Roses Are Red

There are few things as effortlessly chic as red lips. And there are few things as hard as finding the perfect shade of red for your complexion (especially when you're as pale as I am). After reading countless articles on the subject, and, of course, years of trial and error, I've found this to be a pretty trustworthy rule:

If you have a lighter complexion, stick to warm reds that are more orange or coral. If you have a darker complexion, try cooler, more purple reds.

Paired with a white tee, skinny jeans, and a worn-in leather jacket, red lips are my favorite accessory.

Looking Forward

It's the first Monday of 2012 (is it really 2012??), and I've decided to start the year on an optimistic note by reading The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. I was actually just looking for a book to keep me busy during my delay at the airport and ended up picking up this #1 New York Times bestseller. Although it's definitely not my typical book choice, I'll admit, I'm pleasantly surprised. Who knew happiness was so complex?
